About StreamSetupHQ

StreamSetupHQ is a buying-guide site for gaming and streaming gear — capture cards, microphones, cameras, lighting, and the rest of the setup — written for people building a stream from a console and a laptop, not a studio.

Who Runs This

The site is run by a console streamer (PS5 and Xbox) who plays and streams as Spadebornegaming — Twitch: HighlyH8ted (https://www.twitch.tv/highlyh8ted). This site exists because building his own setup meant wading through spec sheets, conflicting reviews, and “top 10” lists that were clearly written by people who had never plugged any of it in. These guides are the research he does for his own rig, published so the next person doesn’t have to start from zero.

How Picks Are Made

No lab, no fake credentials, no invented testing. Here’s the actual process:

  • Specs first. Every pick starts from the manufacturer’s published specifications — capture resolution, passthrough limits, HDR and VRR support, interface bandwidth — because that’s what decides whether a product works in your chain.
  • Owner feedback second. Rankings factor in what verified owners consistently report: reliability, latency, software quality, and failure modes that never show up on a spec sheet.
  • Owned gear is labeled. When a guide covers a product the operator personally owns and uses in his setup, the page says so. Owned gear gets honest treatment too — including its limits.
  • Ranked by use case, not commission. Every list names a top pick, a budget pick, and the specific buyer each product is (and isn’t) for.

How the Site Makes Money

The site earns commissions through affiliate programs, including Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Affiliate links never change the price you pay, and they never buy a ranking. See the full Affiliate Disclosure page (/affiliate-disclosure/).
